National Stalking Awareness Month
January is National Stalking Awareness Month. In commemoration of this event, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) encourages you to add your stalking awareness-related events to the National Calendar of Crime Victim Assistance-Related Events. The Calendar of Events is an online resource to help crime victims, victim service providers, allied professionals, and other interested individuals plan, promote, and locate events of interest to the victim service community in their area.

As a program that may provide services to victims of intimate partner stalking, you are specifically invited to submit your events for inclusion.
By adding your event to OVC's Calendar of Events, victim service providers, advocates, and allied professionals across the Nation will be notified of your event and have access to further event-specific information, allowing you to connect with a larger audience.

Visit the OVC National Calendar of Events now at for instructions on how to add your event. Go to to search for events in your area.

Saudi-Arabia rape victim ordered to receive 200 Lashes.
It may sound absurd, but its true. A 19 year old girl was the victim of a gang rape in Saudi Arabia was recently ordered to receive 200 lashes.

Originally the girl was to receive 90 lashes for "being in the car of an unrelated male at the time of the rape.", but the high judicial council increased that number to 200 and will be jailed for six months, for "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.".

The girl had told her story to the news media which infuriated the council who helps inforce the strict interpretation of islamic doctrine which explicitly prohibits single women from being alone and associating with the opposite sex. It also forbids women from driving and requires them to be covered from head to toe in public.

Father accused of Raping daughters and using dog collars

Charges are bing brought against a 37 year old man and his wife in Tennesee for allegedly raping his two teenage daughters repeatedly and forcing them to wear remote controlled shock collars for obedience.

The names of the parents are not being released to the public in order to protect the identity of the children involved, but the charges are no less serious.

Prosecutors have charged the man with aggravated child abuse and two counts of rape. The wife is also being charged with aggravated child abuse and failure to report child abuse. The Prosecutors believe that the women knew about the electrical shock collars for dogs that were used on the children and did nothing to stop it. it is not clear if the woman knew about the alleged sexual abuse.

The man used the dog collars on the girls so they would obey him better. The two oldest girls now 18 and 19 years old were children from a previous marriage of the man.

The 18 year old who came forward and reported the abuse claims that the father repeated raped the two older girls for at least 5 years. She said that she was starting to fear for her younger sister who was 11 and may also be a target of sexual abuse from the father.

The older sisters whereabouts is not currently known.
