Child Sex offenders often do not offend during the first interaction with a child. They build a relationship of trust first.

They target, analyze, and socialize with the child before engaging in sexual activity in most instances.

BACHNET recently published a list of some common phrases and lies that are often told to children by offenders trying to build that trust relationship and while the "relationship lasts".

1. I love you.

2. You are very special to me.

3. I would never hurt you.

4. It is all your fault.

5. You are the one responsible.

6. No one will believe you.

7. They will think you are making it up because you are mad at me.

8. You will be punished, not me.

9. Your parents will be disappointed with you because of what you have done.

10. Everyone will think youre nasty and dirty.

11. Its our secret cause no else would understand.

12. You will be taken away from your family.

13. Your parents will hate you.

14. Your parents wont love you anymore.

15. No one will love you anymore.

16. Your friends will not like you anymore.

17. Everyone will make fun of you.

18. This is special love.

19. All (fathers/mothers/brothers/sisters/aunts/uncles etc) do this with their child.

20. Im only teaching you about sex.

21. I will hurt you, your dog, your family. anything of value to the child, including threatening to burn down their house..

22. This happened to me at your age and so its OK.

23. You are a big girl/boy now, so you should learn this from someone who loves you.

24. It was an accident  I didnt mean to touch you there  I didnt know you were taking a bath (anyplace the child might be partially clothed or no clothes).

25. Im only tucking you in for bed.

26. Who will take care of you if I go to jail.

27. You will be put in a foster home.

28. I wont buy you anything else if you tell.

29. Everybody will know what a bad girl/boy you are.

30. There is nothing wrong with this  its only a game.

31. I was only tickling you or wrestling with you.

32. Its OK for us to watch these sex type movies  youre old enough now.

33. You are my girlfriend and this is what boyfriends and girlfriends do to feel good.

34. Your Mom & Dad said it was OK if we did this, but not to tell anyone else.

35. Im the boss and youll do what I say and keep your mouth shut.

36. You would be responsible for destroying our family.

37. Im only picking you up this way to get some exercise. (Inappropriately touching/fondling the childs buttocks, breasts or other private parts).
