Description:
In keeping with an annual tradition of convening the nations premier forensic scientific, legal and public policy experts to offer education and training to a broad-based professional audience on a timely and critical societal theme, the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law and the Duquesne University School of Law will host a national conference exploring the vital roles of forensic science and the law in mass disaster response. The program is being cosponsored by the American Academy of Disaster Medicine, the Allegheny County Medical Examiners Office and the Allegheny County Health Department. Casting a broad net over natural disasters, structural and mechanical failures and acts of terrorism, the objective of the conference is to provide first responders, forensic investigators, attorneys, physicians, nurses and policy makers with a better understanding not only of how to determine the root causes of such incidents, but also how future such incidents may be prevented or ameliorated based upon this expanded body of knowledge
