| This training seminar has been specifically designed for Registered Nurses interested in becoming Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNEs). Those who wish to practice as FNEs in Maryland must be an RN with at least 18 months experience and attend the entire seminar to be eligible for Maryland certification. The training is based on a multi-disciplinary approach; therefore, advocates, law enforcement, and other allied professionals are welcome and encouraged to attend. | |

FNE Certification for the Adult/Adolescent patient requires an additional 40-hour clinical component beyond this 40-hour classroom training, which is designed to familiarize the RN with the resources available in their community. It is suggested that RNs become hired by a SAFE program prior to starting this course, and especially prior to beginning the clinical requirements. Furthermore, to become a Pediatric Forensic Nurse Examiner, which entails a separate and additional 62 hours of classroom and clinical training, a RN must first obtain their Adult/Adolescent Forensic Nurse Examiner certification.
