Stacey Mitchell, MSN, RN, SANE-A, D-ABMDI is the Senior Forensic Nurse Investigator at the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office in Houston, Texas. She was instrumental in the development of the largest cadre of forensic nurses working in a medical examiner or coroner office in the United States. In addition to her role as a supervisor, Stacey obtains death reports, responds to scenes, conducts follow- up investigations, oversees the case management aspects of the office, provides community education and participates in research. Stacey began her forensic nursing career twelve years ago as the coordinator of the Forensic Nurse Examiners of St. Marys Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. There, she provided services that included caring for the living victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, trauma and neglect. She has served as a Director at Large for two terms on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International.
